Founded in 2006, the Gathering of Eagles Foundation (GOEF) has provided Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarships to deserving future college students. The scholarship program partners with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum. GOEF partners with the National Flight Academy at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. GOEF seeks to provide life changing educational experiences for Alabama youth from middle school to high school. With a focus on air, space and cyber, GOEF seeks to create a new generation of Eagles, prepared to continue the legacy of the Eagles that speak at Maxwell each year.
All "Future Eagles" are chosen in coordination with local school faculty through an essay application process, and are honored during the capstone GOE week with the Eagles.
The AFROTC scholarship includes a $2,000.00 cash prize as well as travel expenses to attend the annual GOE Week events at Maxwell AFB, AL. The JROTC scholarship includes a $1,000.00 cash prize as well as an invitation to attend the annual GOE Week events at Maxwell AFB, AL. The scholarship winners receive much more than just funding. Our program unites Airpower heroes, leaders and innovators with the next generation of Airpower advocates by creating an environment to share personal experiences, successes and failures to make a significant impact in the military.
Any AFROTC cadet in good standing (as defined by the educational institution) enrolled in AS 200, AS 250, AS 300, and AS 350, as well as any cadet in good standing enrolled in the Marion Military Institute, may apply for the GOE AFROTC Scholarship program.
Any high school senior in good standing (as defined by the public school system) enrolled in any JROTC program in the state of Alabama may apply for the GOE JROTC Scholarship program.
On what basis are GOE Scholarship winners selected?
The application consists of a one-page biography and a three (3) page essay. The essay prompt varies each year, but it will explore possible future Eagles and military leadership. The application must be submitted through your AFROTC Detachment Commander or the Senior JROTC instructor at your high school.
The GOE Scholarship announcement will be published in the fall. Applications will be due in early spring.
The GOE Foundation funds scholarships for Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) cadets throughout the United States and for Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadets in the state of Alabama.
